Webinar: Where the Rubber Meets the Road Webinar Series: Recycled Tire Rubber and Modern Asphalt Pavements — Episode 3: When the Rubber’s in the Road

Wednesday, June 12, 2019 - 2:00pm

Asphalt rubber differs from other recycled tire rubber-modified asphalts by using coarse pieces of recycled tire rubber at higher contents (by weight) to create a rut-resistant yet flexible asphalt binder. It is commonly used in conjunction with a gap-graded aggregate structure to produce a fatigue-resistant layer that can help reduce needed pavement structural thickness.

Key Takeaways:

  • Learn how asphalt rubber is made.
  • Hear best practices for handling asphalt rubber at a plant.
  • Understand the basics of conducting quality control on asphalt rubber and asphalt rubber-modified mixtures.
